Good Lord this is the most fun...

Perhaps I am a mean Mommy, but today we dressed Seven up and took lots of pictures of him in Halloween garb. Being me, I had to go and artsy up a couple of my favorites. Sorry there are no pics of him in his penguin outfit, though...the little guy was pretty mad by the time he reached a third costume. Maybe I can get a picture or two on Wednesday. Trick-or-Treat!!

Saturday brings new pics...

Today I was able to take a few pictures of Seven and his Daddy before I had to go to work. He's really starting to "fill out" or so the older generation likes to say, and his eyelashes are my latest fascination. Just look at them! I hope to take some more pictures tomorrow of him in his halloween costumes, so stay posted!

Milestones

Seven is really growing into a little man. Over the past couple of days I have been trying to make sure he stays on a good sleep/eat/play schedule, and that's working pretty well. Yesterday was a bit of a struggle, as it seemed like all he wanted to do was eat a little and then cry. So maybe he didn't feel well. But today was better. He stuck to the routine, although maybe he slept a bit too much. We'll see in the middle of the night tonight, I guess!
Anyway, here is a video I caught of him in a good mood.

A Sunday Trip to Mountain Lake

Today we drove up the mountain and had a great Sunday Brunch at the hotel. Although the water level is way, way down, the weather was nice and crisp and the food was excellent. They sat us at a great table on the enclosed porch, which was nice. Seven luckily slept through most of lunch and let us eat without fussing. The brunch was much more elaborate than the days when I used to work there, and now I am kind of bummed we haven't gone more often. We are thinking that we should go back up the weekend of Jon's birthday with all of the friends and really enjoy the place.

After brunch we stopped by Rikki's and she took our first family photo...so thanks Rik.

Your typical, blubbering, proud parents...

Seven Justice Vernon Whetzel
born 12:33pm on August 31, 2007
19 3/4 inches, 7 lbs., 10 oz.

Not gonna even discuss the basket case I was for the C-section, or the night of the surgery or the daze I was in the first week. Not going into the 10 day hospital stay we endured only a week after taking him home for the first time. Just going to be glad that we got the chance to bond with him all of that time and learn the ins and outs of our son.

Now that we have Seven home, safe and sound, we are just out of our gourds, I think. We talk about baby poop, in detail, on a daily basis, and it's fun. He's really changed our lives, for the better, and life really is good. Tired? A bit, but it's worth it. But he's really, really good. We actually have him sleeping most of the night already, giving us about 4-5 hours at a stretch. I can handle that, no problem.

we are anxious for the days when he laughs, smiles for reasons other than gas, and even utters a few syllables. The little guy is so cute already though. At least we think so. I spend a lot of time just looking at him. So, here he is...our beautiful baby boy.

Here's a lshort clip of the little man playing with his wrist rattles. As you can see, this is a very tiring activity, and a long nap was sure to follow.
